Sailfish Adventures

Fishing the Treasure Coast for Sailfish Gets into high gear in December and can last through January. Sail fish can be caught any time of the year but not in the numbers that can be expected in mid-winter. FINS will look for fish on the temperature breaks and edges of the gulf stream.

The dredges are used to raise the sailfish to the trolled ballyhoo in the spread. Dredges are heavy and require electric reels to deploy them. Most skippers will agree that a natural dredge will work much better than plastic. Time consuming and expensive to make but well worth it if you catch the sail fish you were hoping for.

Sailfish are caught all year round off Ft. Pierce and are frequently caught while live baiting the reef. They are very strong fish and like to smoke off a lot of line in some real thumb blistering runs.

Please note all sailfish are released to preserve the sport. FINS strictly releases sails.
